The Mathematical Leadership Program (MLP) summer institutes take place on the campus of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Directions to the college and a campus map can be located at www.mtholyoke.edu/cic/about/directions
Teams attending MLP from a distance may wish to rent a car at the airport in order to provide for off-campus transportation. Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT is the nearest airport. Mount Holyoke College is a 45-minute drive from Bradley, a two-hour drive from Logan Airport in Boston.
Logistics
The 2010 MLP Institutes will be offered in three time blocks: Sunday July 11 to Friday July 16, Sunday July 18 to Friday July 23, and Sunday July 25 to Friday July 30. Participants may attend any combination of time blocks.
Attending a MLP summer institute requires a serious commitment. Weekday sessions are held between the hours of 8:30 to 5:00. In addition, reading and writing assignments are assigned each evening.
Class sessions for programs opening on July 11 and 18 begin promptly at 2:00 PM (1:00 on July 18 for LOLS) on those Sundays. Week one programs will close at noon on Friday, July 16; week two programs will close at 3:30 on Friday, July 23.
PDMC-F will open with dinner at 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 25. PDMC-F closes at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 28.
LOLS-F will open at 4:00 on Sunday July 25, followed by supper. It closes at noon on Friday July 23.
Participants should arrange airline travel so they are present for the entire institute.
Housing
All MLP participants and staff will be housed in a Mount Holyoke College dormitory. Meals will be provided in a Mount Holyoke College campus facility. Please note that while the classroom and dining spaces are air-conditioned, the dormitory rooms are not. Fans are provided.
The dormitory and meals facility will be available to two-week participants on the weekends between scheduled activities at no additional cost.
Dormitory check-in will begin on Saturday before the Sunday institute opening. Check-out will begin Friday at the end of the institute; Friday night stays at the dormitory will be arranged for those departing on Saturday.
Information about checking into the dormitory will be included with the acceptance materials.
