Schedules & Costs

MLP consists of six institutes:

  • Developing Mathematical Ideas (DMI): Participants choose one of the seven content strands of DMI and become familiar with the content of that module --opens at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 11and closes at noon on Friday, July 16, 2010
  • Developing Mathematical Ideas-Facilitation (DMI-F): Participants choose one of the seven content strands with which they are familiar to learn how to facilitate a seminar based on this module --opens at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 18 and closes at noon on Friday, July 23, 2010
  • Professional Development for Mathematics Coaching (PDMC): Participants will work with the newly published set of cases written by mathematics coaches --opens at 2:00 PM on sunday, July 18 and closes at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 23, 2010
  • Lenses on Learning with a Focus on Systems (LOLS): Participants work with the newly published Secondary Lenses on Learning materials.  --opens at 1:00 PM on Sunday, July 18 and closes at 3:30 PM on Friday, July 23, 2010
  • Professional Development for Mathematics Coaching -Facilitation (PDMC-F): Participants will develop plans for conducting professional development for coaches in their own site --opens at 6:00 PM with dinner on Sunday, July 25 and closes at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Fees

Participants may apply for any of the one-week programs or may create two-week programs by applying to more than one institute.   Fees for a one-week program are $2800 per person; fees for a 2 week program are $3800.  Fees for a combined PDMC + PDMC-F are $3650.  Program fees include room, board and all program activities.

Participants can arrange to receive two credits for a one-week program and four credits for a two-week program.  The graduate credits from Mount Holyoke College are offered at a substantial discount--at a rate of $125 per credit.

Credit Policy: To receive credits, participants must prepare for and attend every session of the institute and complete all assignments.

Refunds

If you are accepted into the program and cannot attend, refunds will be offered only if your place in the program can be filled either by another educator at your site or through our wait list.

Course Materials

Each participant is responsible for purchasing the course materials.

For PDMC or PDMC-F, purchase Cultivating a Math Coaching Practice: A Guide for K-8 Educators - See CMCP Materials for more information about the material, cost, and purchasing information. Plan to order before June 15 in order to receive material in time to bring with you.

For DMI and DMI-F,  purchase the Facilitator Package for the appropriate DMI module; this includes the case book , facilitator guide and  DVD.  - See DMI Materials for more information about the material, cost, and purchasing information. Plan to order before June 15 in order to receive material in time to bring with you.

For participants in LOLS only, purchaseSecondary Lenses on Learning Participant Book.  Plan to order before June 15 in order to receive material in time to bring with you.

For participants in LOLS-F, purchaseSecondary Lenses on Learning Facilitator's Kit.  Plan to order before June 15 in order to receive material in time to bring with you.

ALL MLP institutes are subject to cancellation in the event of insufficient enrollment.  In such cases, full refunds will be offered.
